Holy Matcha! Have you discovered the wonder tea?

If you ask what are the health benefits of matcha, you may as well just ask what aren’t they! Because frankly matcha tea seems to be the answer to almost everything health-related.  It’s just so incredibly good for you, apparently!   Zen monks have sworn by it for centuries and they live a VERY long and healthy life!

 

Matcha tea is a type of Japanese green tea that’s been around for thousands of years. A favourite of Zen monks and used in traditional Japanese tea ceremonies, matcha means “ground” and this wonder tea is basically ground into a powder then whipped into a frenzy of fabulous health benefits for drinking and digesting in other ways.

 

Aside from Matcha tea and Matcha Lattes, Matcha is starting to be used in things like dairy free icecreams, froyos and other sweet treats like brownies.  It’s also great as a face mask – see below.

 

Why is Matcha so good for you?

Basically it is the holy grail of antioxidants!  Matcha green tea contains polyphenol compounds called catechins – super antioxidants.

 

Matcha possesses antioxidant levels 6.2 times that of goji berries, 7 times that of dark chocolate, 17 times that of wild blueberries and 60.5 times that of spinach! Matcha tea is so much more powerful than other green teas, because the entire leaves are dissolved in water rather than steeped in bags, which means that we get all the benefit from antioxidant powers.

 

Matcha tea’s chlorophyll-rich leaves are steamed, dried and ground into a fine green powder, then mixed with hot water (not boiling) and whisked. One cup of matcha green tea has as many antioxidants as 10 cups of reguIar green tea!

◦ Boosts memory and concentration
◦ Increases energy levels and endurance

◦ Fortifies the immune system/fights disease

 

    Matcha Mask

    This really simple face mask will leave your skin looking and feeling fresh, rejuvenated, clear and radiant. It’s really good for acne, greasy skin and general spots.

     

    ◦ Simply mix a teaspoon of ground Matcha with a teaspoon of runny honey.
    ◦ Mix into a paste
    ◦ Smear all over your face
    ◦ Leave for 15 minutes
    ◦ Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry.

     

      Tip: Alternatively, you can mix with either pro-biotic yogurt or just with water.

      Los beneficios del té Matcha son tantos que es difícil enumerarlos todos ellos porque, francamente este té parece ser la respuesta a casi todos los problemas de salud. ¡Es tan increíblemente bueno, por lo visto! Los monjes Zen lo han consumido desde hace siglos ¡y han tenido una vida muy larga y saludable!

       

      El té Matcha es un tipo de té verde japonés que ha existido desde hace miles de años. Es el té favorito de los monjes Zen, se utiliza en las ceremonias de té japonesas, Matcha significa “tierra” y es básicamente molido en un polvo para que después se pueda utilizar en un sinfín de usos para la salud.

       

      Además del té Matcha y los Matcha Lattes, el Matcha está empezando a ser utilizado en otros alimentos como los helados libres de lácteos, en las nieves de yogurt y otras golosinas dulces como los brownies. También es ideal como una mascarilla facial.

       

      ¿Por qué es tan bueno el Matcha?

      ¡Básicamente es el rey de los antioxidantes! el té verde Matcha contiene polifenoles llamados catequinas - súper antioxidantes. ¡El matcha posee niveles de antioxidantes 6.2 veces mayor que la de las bayas de Goji, 7 veces mayor que la de chocolate negro, 17 veces mayor que la de los arándanos silvestres y 60.5 veces mayor que las espinacas!

       

      El té Matcha es mucho más potente que otros tés verdes, ya que sus hojas se disuelven completamente en el agua en lugar de quedar sólo impregnadas en las bolsas, lo que significa que se pueden obtener todos los beneficios de sus poderes antioxidantes.

       

      Las hojas ricas en clorofila del Matcha se secan para después molerlas en un fino polvo verde. Después se mezcla el polvo en agua caliente (no hirviendo) y se mezcla. Una taza de té verde Matcha contiene los antioxidantes equivalentes a 10 tazas del té verde común.

        ◦ Simplemente mezcla una cucharada de Matcha con una cucharada de miel líquida.
        ◦ Mezcla para crear una pasta.
        ◦ Esparce la mezcla en tu rostro.
        ◦ Deja reposar la mascarilla 15 minutos.
        ◦ Enjuaga con agua tibia y seca tu rostro.

         

          Tip: También puedes mezclar el Matcha con yogurt con probióticos o simplemente con agua.
