Inspirational Woman: Taryn Williams

Taryn Williams is a leading figure in Australia’s talent and modelling industry. She founded WINK Models in 2007, which she developed into a national business with an annual turnover over AU$3 million. She’s just launched her new venture, theright.fit, an online agency that aims to remove bias and empower models and clients alike to make informed decisions about their next job or casting. She lives in Potts Point, Sydney and as a lover of all exercise, Taryn frequents as many different gyms, yoga or pilates studios as possible!

 

What does being naturally beautiful mean to you?

It means being radiant, from the inside out. Beauty comes from so many places, including being compassionate, loving, having confidence, laughing, loving your own skin and the way you interact with the world.

 

What inspires you?

Seeing other people succeed. It really does motivate you, especially if you’ve had a tough day, nothing inspires me more than seeing other people who have really fought their own battles and created something incredible.

 

Top 3 inspirational women?

1. Sheryl Sandberg - her book ‘Lean In’ was a really pivotal moment for me in how I view gender equality and work/life balance
2. My mother - her undying support, patience and love for me and my family inspires me every day.
3. Aung San Suu Kyi - I read her biography recently, and I am so amazed at her bravery, strength of her conviction sand what she has endured yet continues to fight.

 

    Do you live a green life?

    Yes, as an office we try to make sustainable choices in our purchase, recycle, buy organic and live a healthy, active and natural lifestyle. Minimising the chemicals in our lives is really important to me, and I use all natural health & beauty products where possible.

     

    Are you a healthy eater? What are your food weaknesses?!

    I can’t do my job if I don’t fuel my body with the right foods it needs for me to be top of my game, so healthy eating is incredibly important to me. My team all prepare really beautiful healthy salads and we eat together each day, packed full of veggies and lots of bright colour. My health weakness would have to be cheese - I do love a beautiful blue cheese every now and then! Everything in moderation!

     

    Do you adhere to a daily beauty regime?

    I am pretty low maintenance! I wash my face in the shower every morning, with either Dr Spiller products or Cetaphil gentle cleanser. At night I use Trilogy rosehip oil as a treatment. Once a week I will use a gentle face exfoliant, and I get regular facials to keep my skin in good condition. I love Ere Perez Almond Oil Mascara and the Versatile Vanilla Highlighter in Sun Halo for a natural-looking glow. Apart from that, I drink lots of water, which really makes a difference!

     

    What’s your best natural beauty tip?

    Coconut oil is a miracle oil! It’s a perfect body moisturiser and hair treatment. Plus it smells divine!

     

    Do you have any or your own natural/DIY beauty recipes?

    I will admit I don’t make it myself, but I absolutely love a great sea salt or sugar scrub to sloth off dead skin cells on your body. Nothing feels better that newly exfoliated skin, and you can really easily make this at home.

     

    How do you stay fit and healthy?

    I train every morning before work, its a non negotiable for me. It gets the endorphins pumping and puts me in the right frame of mind to start my day. I do a mix of circuits, weights, cardio - I like to mix it up! I train in an altitude room for added intensity too. On the weekends I like to get to a yoga class, or go for a long walk. I read a quote once, ‘Take care of your body, its the only place you have to live’ and I so agree with that sentiment.

     

    How do you most like to spend free time?

    I’ll admit, I do find it hard to switch off, as I really do love my work & companies and always have an idea to be working on! That said, I really enjoy a long day at the beach, reading a great book in the company of friends. Jumping in and out of the ocean to cool off, listening to kids play, the smell of sunscreen on your skin, and salt water… it really does cure everything!

     

    What do you hope to achieve this year?

    I really want to see theright.fit take off, and I’m really excited to expand into the US, with the launching of our NY office this month. I’m eager to see WINK Models continue to grow and we’re really focusing on our Brisbane office and continuing to foster our Back Yourself campaign, about empowering women to reach a healthy level of self confidence and emotional wellbeing, encouraging them to be their own best friend and cheerleader.

     

    I’m also working on being more patient, learning to meditate, and want to be able to do 10 chin ups by the end of the year… so just a few things on my resolutions list!

    ¿Qué significa para ti ser naturalmente hermosa?

    Significa estar radiante de adentro hacia afuera. La belleza viene de muchas cualidades incluyendo de ser compasiva, cariñosa, de tener confianza, de reír, de amar tu piel y de la manera de cómo interactúas con el mundo.

     

    ¿Qué te inspira?

    Ver a otras personas triunfar. Es algo que en realidad te motiva, en especial si tuve un día difícil, nada me inspira más que ver a otras personas que pelearon sus propias batallas y crearon algo increíble.

     

    ¿Quiénes son tus top 3 mujeres que te inspiran?

    1. Sheryl Sandberg- Su libro “Lean In” fue muy importante para ayudarme a entender la igualdad de género y el balance entre el trabajo y la vida.

    2. Mi madre - Su apoyo, paciencia y amor por mi familia y por mí, me inspira cada día.

    3. Aung San Suu Kyi – Leí su biografía recientemente y estoy asombrada de su valentía, fortaleza y convicción, de todo lo que ha soportado y aún sigue luchando.

     

    ¿Vives una vida verde?

    Sí, como oficina tratamos de hacer compras sustentables, de reciclar, de comprar productos orgánicos y de vivir un estilo de vida saludable, activo y natural. Minimizar los químicos en nuestras vidas es muy importante para mí y trato de usar todos los productos naturales de salud y belleza cuando me es posible.

     

    ¿Comes sanamente? ¿Cuáles son tus debilidades?

    No puedo trabajar si no le doy a mi cuerpo el alimento que necesita para mantenerme en lo alto de mi juego, así que comer sanamente es muy importante para mí. Mi equipo de trabajo prepara ensaladas deliciosas y nutritivas cargadas de vegetales y llenas de color y comemos juntos todos los días. Mi debilidad es el queso, amo el blue cheese en cualquier momento. ¡Todo con moderación!

     

    ¿Tienes algún régimen de belleza?

    ¡Soy de bajo mantenimiento! Lavo mi cara mientras me ducho cada mañana con los productos de Dr Spiller o con Cetaphil. Por la noche uso como tratamiento “Trilogy Rosehip Oil”. Una vez a la semana uso un exfoliante facial suave y me hago faciales con frecuencia para mantener mi piel en buenas condiciones. Amo la Mascara con Aceite de Almendras y el Bálsamo Iluminador de Vainilla en tono Sun Halo para crear un look natural. Además de eso, tomo mucha agua, ¡lo que en realidad hace una gran diferencia!

     

    ¿Cuál es tu mejor tip de belleza natural?

    El aceite de coco es un aceite milagro. Es un excelente hidratante corporal y tratamiento de cabello. ¡Además de que tiene un aroma divino!

     

    ¿Tienes alguna receta de belleza?

    Debo admitir que no los preparo yo misma pero amo los exfoliantes a base de sal de mar o azúcar para remover las células muertas del cuerpo. Nada se siente mejor que la piel recién exfoliada y puedes hacerlo en tu casa con facilidad.

     

    ¿Cómo le haces para mantenerte saludable y en forma?

    Entreno todos los días antes de ir al trabajo, es una práctica que no es negociable para mí ya que me da las endorfinas que necesito y me da la paz mental para empezar mi día. Hago una mezcla de circuitos, pesas, cardio. Me gusta hacer mezclas. Entreno en un salón con altura para agregarle intensidad. Los fines de semana tomo una clase de yoga o hago una caminata larga. Alguna vez leí un pensamiento que decía “Cuida tu cuerpo, es el único lugar que tienes para vivir”, coincido totalmente con eso.

     

    ¿Cómo pasas tu tiempo libre?

    Admitiré que me es muy difícil apagarme el switch ya que amo mi trabajo y siempre tengo una idea en la cual estar trabajando. Disfruto muchísimo pasar el día en la playa leyendo un buen libro en compañía de amigos. Entrar y salir del océano para refrescarme, escuchar a los niños jugar, oler el aroma del bloqueador en la piel y el agua salada… ¡Esto realmente lo cura todo!

     

    ¿Cuáles son tus metas para este año?

    Quiero ver despegar mi agencia online theright.fit y estoy muy emocionada de expandirme a los Estados Unidos con la apertura de nuestra oficina en Nueva York esta semana. Estoy ansiosa de ver cómo WINK Models continúa creciendo y nos estamos concentrando en nuestra oficina en Brisbane. También estamos impulsando nuestra campaña Back Yourself, la cual busca empoderar mujeres y darles autoconfianza y bienestar emocional alentándolas a ser sus mejores amigas y líderes.

     

    También estoy trabajando en ser más paciente, aprender a meditar y quisiera ser capaz de poder hacer 10 dominadas antes de que termine el año ¡así que sólo unas cuantas cosas en mi lista de propósitos!
