why oat milk is the new hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid. Have you heard about it? Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in your skin and thanks to new-age skincare and cosmetics, your skin’s hyaluronic acid levels can now even be boosted.

 

◦ Hyaluronic acid is able to hold up to 1000 times its own weight in water.
◦ This is a great feat.
◦ And for you it means this…
◦ Smooth and plump skin.
◦ Quickly resolved fine lines.
◦ Long lasting hydration.
◦ A youthful glow.

 

    How does Hyaluronic Acid Work?

    Hyaluronic acid is simply your skins most effective water magnet. There are 3 ways your skin can moisturise itself. Firstly it can use barrier forming ingredients, think beeswax. These ingredients are called occlusives, they sit on top of your skin to prevent water from escaping.

     

    Secondly skin can use softening ingredients, think almond oil. These ingredients are called emollients, they sink into your skin keeping it elastic.

     

    Finally, skin can use water magnets and you guessed it, hyaluronic acid is a great example. These ingredients are called humectants, they attract, absorb and lock in water.

     

    Ever noticed how baths dry out your skin?

    Water that isn’t bound by an ingredient like hyaluronic acid, dries and dehydrates skin. Your skin needs a healthy dose of water magnets to officially latch onto water. When your skin’s hydration levels are low, it’s dull, dry, scally and aged looking. When your skin’s hydration levels are high, it’s resilient, youth proofed and glowy.

     

    Hyaluronic acid is not the only all-star water magnet about our skincare town. In fact, you’ve probably, at least once eaten a very active, natural alternative.

     

    ◦ You’ll find it in your kitchen cupboard.
    ◦ Down the cereal aisle.
    ◦ In your breakfast bowl.

     

      Oats my friend, are the answer. Porridge oats are home to wondrous oat beta-glucan. A natural water magnet and an effective alternative to hyaluronic acid.

       

      But don’t worry, I’m not recommending you moisturise with porridge, instead, oats can be harvested into oat milk, a naturally high source of oat beta-glucan... and an ingredient used to avoid dehydrated cakey foundation patches in the . As a natural all-star skincare ingredient, oat beta-glucan doesn’t only hydrate, it also helps stimulate skins own production of hyaluronic acid. Not bad ‘eh.
