Ben Dniprowskij began dancing at the age of 3. Born in Melbourne, he discovered his interest in makeup watching all the girls having it applied, but it wasn’t until he developed a skin condition as a teenager that he really discovered the power of makeup.

After 6 years of working in a hair salon, Ben decided to become a makeup artist. He learned from YouTube videos and three years later – his achievements included winning the Make Up for Ever Pro contest where he learnt to body paint in Paris, becoming the face of a MAC Cosmetics global campaign, having his work featured in magazines such as Vogue, Schon, The impression and KaltBlut. He then entered a new era where he has become contributing editor of Lauds new magazine endeavor, Laud Unleashed. Ben had found his passion and was living his dream!

EP_Blog_Banners_Bold2 Ben donates his time to give workshops to women in need for the charity, Fitted for Work. Named one of 6 makeup artists to look out for in 2017, he and is currently working on Music Videos and in Film where his focus on Art and Face Installations. Ben continues to push his agenda of artists not hiding behind photoshop and pushing extreme art to the forefront of a commercially-dictated world…

“My style of makeup has been described as vulgur, unrefined and extreme. And I would agree with all three! I have this problem with today’s beauty standards that are digitally enhanced to feed on insecurities. My work literately just mirrors the disformed reality that I am witnessing unfold. I also prefer to use what the industry would call ‘reaI’ models. Large, older and any other minority group that is under-represented in the pursuit of beauty as I find the general image we have pumped down our throats vapid and repetitive.  I have never used makeup in the traditional way.

EP_Blog_Banners_Bold3 I started using foundation as a teenager as I suffered (and still do) from terrible skin conditions. This is a real pain for me as the full body work I do is so extreme and to achieve the rich colours needed, I usually have to use products that contain harsh chemicals that break me out in rashes. I have seborrheic dermatitis which causes flaky dry chunks of skin but it is still oily which is a nightmare for a makeup artist.

This is why on a daily basis I chose products as natural as I can get to give my skin a rest. I have tried different brands to achieve same performance as conventional makeup but unfortunately – most natural brands are still geared towards more natural colours. Although, one product that I really love is the Ere Perez carrot colour pot in Happy... I use this one when I want a statement rich lip or some hardcore blush!”
