Inspirational woman: Kyla Kirkpatrick

In 2005, Kyla, aka The Champagne Dame, gave up her career in finance and moved to Champagne, France to follow her passion for the sparkling stuff!

 

After spending time immersed in the region learning all that she could, Kyla was recruited in Paris with Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy to represent some of the world’s most prestigious champagne brands.

 

Now an independent ambassador for the Champagne region, Kyla is a writer, presenter and host of champagne master classes and events throughout Australia, as well as exclusive tours in the Champagne region itself. Tough job!

 

Kyla is also a hands-on mother of one who leads a busy, healthy and active lifestyle with her partner and daughter in Melbourne.

 

What does being naturally beautiful mean to you?

Natural beauty starts with good health – I feel most beautiful when I have clean skin and on holidays where I can take time out from my busy schedule to just breathe and relax. My partner prefers that I don’t wear makeup at all, but as a presenter that is difficult!

 

What inspires you?

Truthfully, the biggest motivator was giving birth to my daughter. It’s interesting what happens to a woman when she makes that commitment to be a mother – I worked so hard during my pregnancy (and beyond) to have my business, home and everything perfect for when this tiny person came. This created a momentum that hasn’t slowed. I am building a financial future for us.

 

Top 3 inspirational women?

1. Madame Lily Bollinger – a woman who knew every worker by name and applied grace to everything.
2. Christy Turlington – a naturally beautiful woman who always operates with dignity.
3. Loretta Lynch - the first black, female head of the department of justice in the USA. She is not shying away from the tough calls and I admire her totally.

 

Do you live a green life?

My partner really drives this ship. He is a greeny at heart and really focuses our little family on doing things right. We eat local produce as much as we can and we support small growers - not only in the food and products we buy, but in our champagne choices too!

 

Are you a healthy eater?

On the whole I am fairly healthy and moderate. There is still some room for improvement, but that is a continuous journey! My weakness is some dark chocolate with a nip of whisky at bed time. It makes me happy!

 

Do you adhere to a daily beauty regime?

Absolutely. Clean skin no matter how tired you are. Cleanse and moisturize – moisturize – moisturize!! Keep your cleanser simple and organic (and cheap), spend your well earned money on moisturizer.

 

What’s your best natural beauty tip?

Drink loads of water! Water will clear your eyes, your skin and make you look fresh.

 

Do you have any or your own natural/DIY beauty recipes?

I don’t have any do it yourself of my own but I have a girlfriend who makes an amazing natural body scrub with coffee, oils and a bunch of other delicious natural ingredients. She should bottle it and market it! Divine.

 

How do you stay fit and healthy?

I don’t exercise at the gym – but I am very busy and hold lots of events, so I am constantly carrying boxes of champagne, lifting, packing and unpacking!  Not to mention running to catch planes and the general craziness of my life. I take walks with my daughter some mornings. That is enough to keep me fit.

 

How do you most like to spend free time?

Any free time is dedicated to my daughter, Miss Arlington. We read or share hot chocolates at our favorite café.

 

Absolute beauty must haves?

I love the new Beauté Pacifique crème which was developed for Princess Mary of Denmark. It re-develops collagen within 90 days. I also use Bio Oil to remove my eye makeup. It’s a staple in my beauty case – particularly when travelling.

 

What are your favourite Ere Perez products?

My favourite product is the Clever Carrot Cheek and Lip Balm (Holy). I always use my lipstick as my rouge, but this product is already designed for both! The colour is soft and elegant.

 

What do you hope to achieve this year?

This will be my greatest year yet. I have plans to launch a new company that will take a decade of hard work educating across the globe in Champagne and wrap it all up in an amazing online store for champagne. We will ethically purchase our champagne and give the small grower families of champagne the voice they deserve. Super exciting!

¿Qué significa para ti ser naturalmente hermosa?

La belleza natural comienza con una buena salud. Me siento más bella cuando tengo la piel limpia y en los días festivos que es cuando puedo tomar un descanso de mi ajetreada rutina para respirar y relajarme. Mi pareja prefiere que no use maquillaje en absoluto, ¡pero como conductora es difícil!

 

¿Qué te inspira?

A decir verdad, mi mayor motivante fue haber dado a luz a mi hija. Es interesante lo que le sucede a una mujer cuando hace el compromiso de ser madre – Trabajé muy duro durante mi embarazo (y después) para tener mi negocio, casa y todo perfecto para cuando esta pequeña persona viniera. Esto creó un impulso que no ha parado. Estoy construyendo un futuro financiero para nosotros.

1. Madame Lily Bollinger: Una mujer que sabía el nombre de cada una de las personas que trabajaba con ella y hacía todo con delicadeza y gracia.

¿Vives una vida verde?

Mi pareja realmente impulsa este estilo de vida. Él vive la ideología de la vida verde, y se enfoca en que nuestra familia haga las cosas bien. En la medida de lo posible consumimos productos de la localidad y apoyamos a los productores locales pequeños -no sólo en los alimentos o productos que compramos sino en las selecciones de champagne que hacemos.

En general soy bastante saludable y moderada. Todavía hay un cierto margen de mejora, ¡pero eso es un camino continuo! Mi debilidad es un poco de chocolate oscuro con un poco de whisky antes de acostarme. ¡Me hace muy feliz!

 

¿Tienes algún régimen de belleza? 

Absolutamente. Limpia tu rostro no importa qué tan cansada estés. Limpia y humecta, ¡humecta, humecta! Que tu limpiador sea simple y orgánico (y barato). Gasta tu dinero bien ganado en el humectante.

 

¿Cuál es tu mejor tip de belleza natural?

¡Toma mucha agua! El agua limpiará tus ojos, tu piel y te hará lucir fresca.

 

¿Tienes alguna receta natural de belleza?

No tengo ninguna receta de belleza que yo haya hecho pero una amiga hizo un maravilloso exfoliante natural con café, aceites y otros deliciosos ingredientes naturales. ¡Debería de envasarlo y comercializarlo! Esta divino.

 

¿Cómo le haces para mantenerte saludable y en forma?

No me ejercito en el gimnasio, pero soy una mujer muy ocupada que lleva a cabo una gran cantidad de eventos, así que estoy continuamente cargando cajas de champagne, levantándolas, empacándolas y desempacándolas. Por no hablar de correr para alcanzar aviones y la locura general de mi vida. Tomo paseos con mi hija algunas mañanas. Eso es suficiente para mantenerme en forma.

 

¿Cómo pasas tu tiempo libre?

Todo el tiempo libre está dedicado a mi hija, la señorita Arlington. Leemos o tomamos chocolate caliente en nuestro café favorito.

 

¿Cuáles son tus productos de belleza indispensables?

Me encanta la crema Beauté Pacifique crème, la cual fue desarrollada para la Princesa María de Dinamarca. Esta crema hace que desarrolles más colágeno en 90 días. También uso Bio Oil para quitar el maquillaje de los ojos. Es un elemento básico en mi cosmetiquera - sobre todo cuando viajo.

Mi producto favorito es el Bálsamo Multiusos de Zanahoria en tono Holy. Siempre utilizo mi barra de labios como rubor, ¡pero este producto ya está diseñado para ambas cosas! El color es suave y elegante.

 

¿Qué metas esperas alcanzar este año?

Este será mi mejor año. Tengo pensado lanzar una nueva empresa que me llevará una década de trabajo duro educando sobre el champagne a través del mundo y también será una tienda en línea de champagne. Compraremos de forma ética nuestro champagne y le daremos a las familias de pequeños productores el lugar que se merecen. ¡Súper emocionante!
