let's get together

let's get together

Holidays are nearly here! Another year is winding up and we all need a little break to take stock, celebrate the wins, reflect on the losses, and recharge for 2018. Usually around this time of year time feels like it speeds up. There’s more on the social calendar, plans take over and there’s often a rush to get the loose ends tied up before the clock strikes 12 on December 31st. Christmas or no-Christmas, New Year, holiday festivities, however you spend it, this time can be a joyous one when we focus on the people we share our lives with.

The end of the year is about many different things for people. A few unifying factors include good food, indulgence, gifting, vacations, time spent relaxing at home, finally getting around to home DIY tasks like painting a room / planting a garden / fixing a leaking tap, saying farewell to work for the year, setting intentions for January. Amidst all of this joviality, the chaos of present-shopping, family squabbles and hugs, days in the sun or the snow, it wouldn’t be the holidays without the people we love.

Life is a crazy wild experience much of the time. We do our best, we weather many storms and there are moments that are so golden, so glorious, so meaningful, they take our breath away. We love with all our hearts, we cry tears of joy and sadness, and at this time of year I am always so grateful for the people who have shared the year with me.

Friends and family, whether it be many or just a few, make it all worth it. Sometimes we feel happy as the holiday season rolls around, sometimes we feel a little burned out, but there is always something to be grateful for. May this holiday be special, may it fill your heart with wonder, may you share beautiful moments, laughter, all the gorgeous things that unite us. Getting together to toast the year-just-past is a powerful ritual to say goodbye to the old and welcome in the new.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS to all!!!
