Vegan vs. Cruelty Free Makeup
What’s the difference?
Good question! Vegan is a lifestyle choice that many people simply associate with diet – that’s to say the idea that being vegan means not eating anything to do with animals. And that is true of people who choose to be vegan in terms of what they eat.
But veganism has a lot more to it. To be truly vegan, you basically don’t have anything to do with animal-derived products in any way – and animals include every living creature, not just the furry kind…not in food, cosmetics, toiletries, clothes, shoes, homewares or household products.
All vegan cosmetics will be Cruelty Free by virtue of the fact they’ve not had anything to do with any animal products or derivatives at any point in their manufacture. But not all cosmetics and beauty products that are certified Cruelty Free are vegan.
They may not have tested on animals at any point in their process, but if their ingredients include anything that is derived from animals, e.g. honey, beeswax or goat’s milk for example, they cannot be called Vegan.
At Ere Perez we are certified Cruelty Free as a brand, and all our products are certified Cruelty Free, which means we have never and will never test on animals in any stage of our production… and none of the base ingredients have been tested on animals either.
However we are still working towards being completely vegan. At the moment we call ourselves Beegan! Purely because we still use beeswax in our Rich Olive Oil lipsticks and our brown Sunflower Oil Mascara.
Beeswax is a natural wax produced in the bee hive of honey bees and is a by-product of the honey industry. The wax is made by the worker bees and used to line the inside of the honeycomb and to cap it off.
When beekeepers extract the honey, they cut off the wax caps from each honeycomb cell with an uncapping knife or machine. It’s then taken away to be rendered and clarified by heating in water before it’s used for makeup and candles etc…
Whether you’re Cruelty Free, Vegan, Beegan or other, it’s all about making an informed choice!

¡Buena pregunta! Vegano es un estilo de vida que muchas personas simplemente se asocian con la dieta - que es decir la idea de que ser vegano significa no comer nada que ver con los animales. Y eso es cierto de las personas que optan por ser vegano en términos de lo que comen.
Pero el veganismo tiene mucho más que eso. Para ser verdaderamente vegano , que, básicamente, no tiene nada que ver con los productos derivados de animales de cualquier manera - y animales incluye todo ser viviente , no sólo el tipo peludo ... no en alimentos, cosméticos, artículos de tocador, ropa, zapatos, artículos para el hogar o productos para el hogar
Todos los cosméticos veganos serán Cruelty Free porque no han tenido nada que ver con ningún producto animal o derivados en cualquier momento de su fabricación. Pero no todos los cosméticos y productos de belleza que están certificados Cruelty Free son veganos .
Puede ser que no hayan probado en animales en cualquier momento de su proceso, pero si sus ingredientes incluyen todo lo que se deriva de los animales , por ejemplo, miel , cera de abejas o la leche de cabra , por ejemplo , no pueden ser llamados vegano.
En Ere Pérez estamos certificados Cruelty Free como marca, y todos nuestros productos están certificados Cruelty Free , lo que significa que nunca tenemos y nunca probar en animales en cualquier etapa de nuestra producción ... y ninguno de los ingredientes de la base han sido probados en animales tampoco. Sin embargo todavía estamos trabajando para ser completamente vegana. Por el momento nos llamamos Beegan ! Puramente porque seguimos usando la cera de abejas en nuestras Barras de Labios de aceite de oliva.
La cera de abejas es una cera natural producido en la colmena de abejas de las abejas de miel y es un subproducto de la industria de la miel . La cera se hace por las abejas obreras y se utiliza para alinear el interior del panal de abeja y para colmo . Cuando los apicultores extraen la miel, le cortaron los tapones de cera de cada celda de panal con un cuchillo desoperculación o máquina. Es entonces quitado se represente y aclaró por calentamiento en el agua antes de que sea utilizado para el maquillaje y las velas , etc ...
Tanto si eres Cruelty Free, Vegetariana, Beegan u otro, todo se trata de hacer una elección informada. Sea amable.
