foundation tips for beginners

We use complexion products to feel confident in our own skin. Whether you’re aiming for a light natural even glow or full coverage finish, the type of foundation, the way you prep, shades and application all matter.

Here’s all we know to prepare yourself for endless glowing compliments.

Choosing the right foundation
Consider your skin type, desired coverage and formula finish when choosing a foundation.

The best-selling Oat Milk Foundation helps to blur imperfections, evens skin tone & gently brightens complexion to suit all skin types & sensitive skin. Arnica All-cover Pot is a soft-matte cream foundation/concealer hybrid that’s formulated to nourish skin with a long-lasting full coverage.

Prep your canvas
Before applying foundation, ensure your skin is thoroughly clean. Fig All-beauty Jelly melts away makeup and impurities without stripping away natural oils. Follow with your usual AM skincare treatments and serums then prep with Moringa All-beauty Crème for plump skin, smooth texture and lasting hydration.

Find the right shade
Finding the correct foundation shade starts with knowing your undertone. An easy way to identify your undertone is a vein test. Observe the veins around the underside of the wrist. If they appear to be a blue/purple tint, you likely have cool undertones. If they look more green/olive you likely have warm undertones. If you can't tell one way or the other, or you think you’re a mix, your undertones are neutral.

Seamless application
No matter what tool you choose, always apply less than you think you’ll need – it’s easier to build more coverage that take away. Brushes, sponges, and even your fingers can be used to apply foundation. Experiment to find what works best for you, starting from the centre of the face, working outwards.

For a quick application and polished finish, try Eco Vegan Kabuki Brush. For a skin-like finish, apply liquid and cream foundations with a damp Bio All-beauty Sponge.

Lock in place
To set your foundation in place, lightly dust Corn Setting Powder over the skin. This step also helps absorb excess oil and reduce unwanted shine. Learn more about the magic of Corn Setting Powder here.

Now, go and embrace the confidence that comes with a beautifully applied base!
