are you recycling your beauty empties?
Did you know, the personal care and beauty industry produces more than 120 billion units of packaging every year globally?
Beauty products are often made from several different materials that can't be separated including plastic, magnets, glues & metals, making them difficult to recycle and unsuitable for our everyday community kerbside recycling programs, therefore ending up in landfill.
Here is our guide to how to responsibly dispose of your empties, in 3 easy steps!
Step #1 Collect your empties
Containers do not need to be squeaky clean when being placed for recycling, but we recommend removing as much as the product as possible.
Step #2 Separate
Kerbside v recycling programs. Recycle what you can at home, kerbside. Many Ere Perez products are mono elements, making them easy to separate and recycle kerbside. That includes aluminium, glass & plastic!
Place smaller pieces inside larger containers of the same material, to ensure its recycled correctly! For example, we recommend placing an aluminium lid in a tin can, milk bottle etc. something that is at least the size of your fist.
Did you know: The metal lid on our colour pencils is 2 inches, specifically designed to meet this requirement!
Even serum & foundation droppers can be recycled from home!
Step #3 Drop off
Items made of mixed materials such as mascara bottles, lipsticks & mirrored compacts are far more tricky to process and need to be recycled by specialist recycling programs.
Global packaging recycling programs like TerraCycle, MyGroup, Pact, Handle are funded by brands, manufacturers and retailers around the world, meaning you can easily drop-off your empties at your local collection point!
