lights out for earth hour

lights out for earth hour

Switch off for nature. Earth Hour 2023 is this Saturday, March 25, from 8:30pm to 9:30pm AEDT.

This Earth Hour, we're calling on all Australians to sign up to switch off and join a worldwide community of millions taking #TimeOutForNature.

If you’re not familiar with Earth Hour, it’s a worldwide movement for the planet, founded and organised by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).

The annual global event, which began in 2007, aims to encourage individuals, communities, households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour, as a symbol for their commitment to the wellbeing of our planet.

Get involved by getting creative. Here are 10 ways you can spend your hour.

1. Host a candlelit dinner
2. Old school board games night
3. Go stargazing
4. Camp out on the balcony/in your back garden
5. Switch off & meditate
6. Get crafty with whatever's around the house
7. Pamper yourself with a candlelit bath
8. Go for a walk outside
9. Make an eco resolution
10. Take a nap! An hour of darkness is a great excuse. Who’s to know?!

Make the time - whether it’s 60 seconds, 60 minutes or beyond the hour to reflect on our world, and how to be environmentally aware to create a better, healthier planet.
